Post by Son of Ron on Fri Nov 02, 2018 11:37 am

About a decade ago, one of my Board Brothers told me that this is the main issue with most people.

WELL JUST LOOK AT THAT JOBS NUMBERS!!!!

Not only, but the fastest rising wage increase in over a decade!!!!

BTW, I'm sure most of you know what people with JOBS, JOBS, JOBS tend to have?

    THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!

So you just gotta love the the record highs in the stock market since Trump was elected.

    and it gets even better!!!!

Thanks to the Trump Tax Cuts, which most sane people love, many get to keep more of their paychecks!!!!

I wonder...how strong does our military need to be?  I mean, I know we need strong and quality homeland security and all, but we have a boatload of nukes.  Nobody is going to invade us, lest we annihilate them.   So why we still need to spend 3/4 of a trillion a year on military?

I guess we'll see what the obvious choice is Tuesday.  Actually, about half of the midterm voters have voted already.  Talk is that it'll be the biggest turnout for a midterm in many generations or possibly ever.  Reports are that there's a 500% increase in voters in their 20's showing up to vote.  That's probably a good sign, right?

THAT'S HOW I'D HANDLE THE VIOLENT, MOSTLY MILITARY AGE MALE HORDE MARCHING THRU MEXICO WITH INTENT TO INVADE AND PLUNDER AMERICA

PS, THE AVERAGE MIDTERM TURNOUT DURING MINE AND YOUR LIFETIME IS ABOUT 3 OF 8.  I'D BE SURPRISED TO SEE IT GO ABOVE 50%

PSS, WHY IS IT GOOD FOR PEOPLE IN THERE 20'S TO VOTE?  WISDOM COMES WITH AGE.  BUT THEN, ITS A WELL KNOWN FACT THAT LEFT DOES BETTER WITH THE UNIFORMED OR THE MISINFORMED.  NOBODY IS MORE MISSED INFORMED THAT THE TYPICAL COLLEGE GRADUATE IN THEIR 20'S.

I'd say it's important for 20-somethings to vote because they stand to gain or lose the most.  They have to live with the outcome for another 50-70 yrs on average, whereby you and I have another 20-30 yrs on average, and the average retired person has another 10-15.  I don't see the point in our elections being wholly decided by folks that will be here for the shortest time into the future.  Your point is valid...20-somethings are perhaps less informed, but they have to live with the outcome for longer than another other generation of voters, so they have every reason to vote and to go out and get informed.  I suspect more than just a few have taken it upon themselves to get informed.

And honestly, I network quite a bit in my community for sales-related reasons relating to my job.  Politics comes up (since I work in the financial industry), and various other issues, in many discussions.  I don't find that the older folks are more informed.  Some are more interested.  That's to be expected.  But I have sensed that the average 20-something knows every bit as much as the typical 50-something that chats me up.  I'm perhaps a rare person that is impressed by millennials.  I find them to be smart and knowledgeable and hard working.  They give me hope for this world and this country.

The other reason I like seeing 20's kids voting is for the same reason we talk up the idea of dollar cost averaging our investments.  If we have 100% turnout for old folks and 50% for middle ages, and 20% for young folks, then we're going to get a very old-folks priorities heavy government.  I'd prefer to see a balanced gov't.  The youth are our future so there's no reason to see them have to suffer through a gov't that's created to benefit the oldest people in society and to pay no mind to the millennials.  The old folks are primarily concerned with making sure their Medicare and SS is safe, while also making sure nobody else ever gets any free shit.  Young folks would probably prefer to have free college and free healthcare, and not worry about the old folks.  Probably a good plan is to just incorporate both into the formula.

If Trump was not such an asshole personally, this election would be a GOP cakewalk.
Of course if he was not an asshole, he would have never been nominated or won the election.
Feel Good social issues are bullshit to people that are just trying to make ends meet.

With all due respect Mr Rober Rosebowl

    How many politicians aren't assholes?!?!?

how many of these freakin' crooks got into office in their 20's and 30's and are now in their 60's and thinking they own the damn seat?!!?!?

You're not even 60 and you are retired.  Kevin hopes to follow you.  Mr RobZ is probably 5 years behind the two of you.  I would be too if I didn't have a kid at 44.  Can't take early social security AND pay for med school for my little genius...

But look at these freakin' politcians.  seems like 60's is when many hit their prime!!!!  And WTF have they done their entire lives?!?!?!  Mooching our taxes dollars at salary that is 6X higher than what is deemed a living wage with a benefits and expense package package that is roughly the same.  How much of our tax dollars is Paul Ryan stealing with his pre age 50 retirement?!?!?  That puke decided to abandon his throne because his thought Nancy Pelosi is days away from taking it.  Damn coward.

Thank God for Trump.  Too bad Rauner wasn't our Trump.  Real business men who know how to run something other than their mouths.  That was the problem with your Boy, #44.  And yet, we still have dipshits likpe the fratboy jerking off to the progressives.  That dumb bitch 28 yr old Puerto Rican bartender from New York and all the know nothing millenials are going to save the world with socialism according to the fratboy.

    LMAO

to quote Margret Thatcher, Socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money.  These damn snowflakes don't know what suffering really is.  Ironically, people who have escaped socialism and communism do.

You got it right about the "Feel Good Bullshit"  But add to that, people here like the fratboy don't want to think about the issues more than they have too and would rather to told what to do by Rachel Maddow.

That's why Trump was elected.  WE THE PEOPLE abdicated our resposibility to be informed and get involved to professional politicians.  We are finally realizing we have to kick these clowns out b4 it is too late.

Love the "fratboy" reference.  I'm going to need to start saying "Duuude" here more often so I sound like one.
