    National Debt

Post by Soxillinirob on Tue Jun 26, 2018 9:57 pm

There was a time when conservatives cared about the debt and the deficit.  Hint: it's when there's a Dem in the office of president.  For all of the bragging about how great the economy is doing under Trump, it seems that the better it supposedly does, the worse the deficit projections become.  Reminds me of the joke we had as corporate lenders when we'd see a company with negative income and they'd tell us their revenues were going to increase this year and make them profitable.  Somehow I was supposed to just accept that higher revenues would turn their negative profit margin to positive, even though they couldn't explain how that was going to happen.  We lenders would joke that the negative income company was going to make up the difference on volume.  Nerdy banker jokes, but there's a point.  Ordinarily, the deficit shrinks when the economy grows and unemployment drops.  Seems something has gone horribly wrong here.

Eight yrs of outright shrieking and pearl clutching over the deficit. Finally, GOP majorities in all three corners. What do they do? Hey, let's vastly cut revenues, increase spending, and blow the deficit through the roof! We can fix it by cutting social security and Medicare, or just fix it never.

The GOP is an outright fraud. They aren't even trying to hide it because nothing matters anymore anyway.

    They are exposed.

THE SCHMUCK FROM ST CHUCK STILL CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE FROM PROPAGANDA AND FACTS

    AND WHAT A HYPOCRIT

ACCORDING TO THE SCHMUCK, THE DEFICIT WAS BEING REDUCED AT A HISTORIC RATE WHEN OBAMA WAS IN CHARGE

    TALK ABOUT FAKE MATH....

PS, CONSIDERING HOW OFTEN THE CBO HAS BEEN WRONG, AND HOW OFTEN THE RADICALLY REVIVE ESTIMATES, HARDLY A REALIABLE SOURCE.  JUST LOOK AT HOW THEY COMPLETELY MISSED THE BOAT ON OBAMACARE

2018 IS 54 BILLION AHEAD OF LAST YEAR.

FISCAL YEAR TO DATE ITS 79 BILLION

ONCE AGAIN, THE SCHMUCK IS CAUGHT INVENTING HIS OWN INFORMATION

    *******************

PS, IF YOU LOOK AT THE MONTH TO MONTH TREND BETWEEN THIS YEAR AND LAST YEAR.  THE DEFICIT IS ONLY SLIGHTLY HIGHER THIS YEAR.

WHAT THE SCHMUCK DOESN'T TELL YOU IS THAT THE MAJORITY OF SPENDING IS ON SOCIAL PROGRAMS AND WELFARE THAT WHERE IN PLACE WELL B4 TRUMP.  BLAME FDR AND LBJ FOR THE DEFICIT AND THE DEBT.

Wait...why is it slightly higher this year?  Is the GOP going to make up the difference on volume?  One of the main keys to fixing a broken deficit is to grow the economy.  WHY is the deficit growing right now with a GOP majority across the board?  This is the same bullshit you were screaming at me during the last 8 yrs.  Why is it different now?  When Obama had a horrible deficit, we also were mired in an awful recession.  When the economy improved, so did the deficit.  Why does your cult leader get a free pass now?

This isn't me inventing anything.  This is just data.  I shared an article that is in line with about 95 other articles I've read recently.  Remember when the deficit was the be all, end all center of the universe?  Why and how did that change?

If this is the best economy in the past however long, shouldn't we be finding ways to be approaching a balanced budget?  What is your cult leader and your party's approach to that?  Building a wall?  Kidnapping kids from parents?  Breaking unions?  Ending abortion?

Just read that in Trump's first full budget year (Oct 2017 through Sept 2018), the Treasury will issue $1.338 Trillion in new debt, more than double the amount a year ago at the end of Obama's final budgetary year, which added $666 Billion to the debt.

I believe this year's on-books deficit was about $780 billion (expected to reach $1 Trillion next year).  Must have been another $550 billion off-books debt on top of that.  Wasn't the tax cut for millionaires and billionaires supposed to pay for itself?  Something appears to have gone terribly wrong.  Trump has all three chambers, and didn't even need 60 votes in the senate to cut spending, since you can pass spending cuts through reconciliation and pass them through the Senate with only 51 votes.

I guess the definition of conservative now is to not care about spending anymore, or deficit, or debt, or executive orders.  I remember when all of those were bad things.
