"Against the rebuild" is sorta like being "against" the Trump election or Brexit or anything that's a done deal and well under way.  Useless opposition at this point.  As a Sox fan he's either on the same train the franchise is now on, or he better get off at the next station and find another team.  Like the Cubs maybe.

Can't blame Murph.  Trade their best hitter and the leagues best pitcher and all they get is 3 weeks of a 100 hitting 2B.  Had they gone after a real hitter and a real catcher and with Avi Garcia turning into an All Star, they'd have a real offense.  And if they looked to add a top pitcher instead of dumping Sale, they have a real pitching staff.

Instead, they sabotage the team then use that as an excuse to throw away all the guys that can play for a bunch of A ball players.  As if anyone with a brain plans to actually be in Chicago, let alone the state of  Illinois come 2020.  Sox will be damn lucky if 1/3 of these kids make it.

LOSE NOW AND WAIT FOR A TOMMORROW THAT MAY NEVER COME!!!

Yes, this is a put-on rant of course, but one point of information.   The Sox have two 650-ish Catchers in Narvaez and Smith.   The "real" Catcher who we talked about all February who ended up costing $ 11 million per year is at a cool .656 OPS and barely above replacement level.  Narvaez is more valuable than him and by a decent margin.

Both 2015 and 2016 showed you can't play win-now with no offensive talent coming from the farm system.  You can buy pitching but you can't buy hitting. Nearly every offensive free agent is in their 30's, overly expensive and in decline as Sox found out with LaRoche and Cabrera.   The 2015 free agent offensive class was miserable.  2016 wasn't a whole lot better.
Look at the all successful clubs today and the hitters they drafted or traded for as minor leaguers (Dodgers- Seager, Bellinger, Puig... Red Sox- Betts, Boegarts, Benintendi.. Yankees-Judge, Sanchez,   Nationals- Harper, Rendon....Cubs- Bryant, Rizzo, Russell, Schwarber,  Indians - Lindor, Ramirez, Santana  Astros - Correa, Altuve, Springer)..

At least now the Sox are stocking the minor league system with some offensive prospects through their own signings and trades.  It's clearly the model that today's top teams followed.

Claimed THE PLAYERS would pressure Ventura to resign one off season.  Also claimed Ventura did not NEED THE MONEY, so he should just quit.

    Preaching to the choir

THE KARK has been claiming forever the org was far too pitching centric

Plus the hitters they did draft sucked ass.  Jared Mitchell Courtney Hawkins Kenyan Walker.  The most sucessful hitter the Sox have drafted in the past decade is Gordon Beckham.

Bottom line, the Sox know what to do but do they know how to do it

That's why I'm praying the Sox have WILLY MICKEY and the DUKE in A ball.  Imagine that in the OF from 2020-2025.  Imagine the billion dollars it will take to keep them 2026-2030

Saying Narvaez is better is like bragging 9 dimes is worth more tha 3 quarters

Well neither get you anything off the dollar menu

THE KARK was wrong about Wieters, but correct about Soto.  The player that would have been screwed would have been Kevan Smith who ain't nothing.  So a Wieters signing at 8mil would not have been quite the disaster you are painting it out to be.

PS, Wieters didn't pop onto my radar until end of January.  I'm sure there were better options 2 months earlier when teams tend to do the bulk of their major moves

Basically true, except that Marcus Semien actually noses out Beckham as the most successful draftee.
He's had 5.8 career WAR (713 OPS) to Beckham's 5.3 career (673 OPS) even tho Gordo has twice as many career PA's.   Unfortunately nearly all Semien's value came after he was traded to the A's for Jeff Samardzija.  So Sox not only have picked the wrong guys, they got rid of the only good one.

They may never have valued Semien that highly as he was picked 6th round.  Maybe he didn't have enough football qualities for the Sox to have drafted him higher

A Wieters' signing would have put a needless dent in Reinsdorf's wallet but that's not a "disaster" in anybody's book except his.
But the real downside would have been not giving Narvaez the kind of playing time he deserved so he could improve his abilities to be a solid major leaguer.  He's never going to hit for any power but he's on-base machine with his BB's and his defense is well above average.  Makes him a very valuable backup Catcher for the future.
There's a reason Wieters was passed on by so many times and was the last free agent to finally get a contract.  Statcast showed his exit velocity off the bat had declined in 2016 and GM's are paying attention to that kind of information.
He wouldn't have even helped pitchers because his framing abilities are nearly the worst in the majors.   This guy had high risk of turning into a stiff this year and that's exactly what's happened.  Eating up payroll and taking away playing time from younger guys weren't what the Sox needed from any vet Catcher this year.

Looks like the KARK has been corrected on this one.

After an imppressive 2/3 of a season as a rookie, Beckham spent roughly 5 years as a regular (400PA and over) and never got above a 700 OPS.  His last two years, 2015 and 2016, as a benchwarmer showed no offensive impressive.  His baseball career ended roughly 2 weeks after his 30th Bday

Semien on the other hand, was an unimpressive bench warmer in two partial seasons with the White Sox.  He played everydays with the A's in 2015 and 2016 and hit better than anything Beckham did between 2010-2014.  That said, overall he has been average at best as a hitter.  Kinda sad that the best postion player drafted in a decade rates a C-

Agree, Semien is probably no much more than a C player.    But the Sox's failures in drafting hitters actually go back nearly two decades now.  Aaron Rowand in 1998 was the last
hitter drafted that had any sustained success in bigs (21 WAR).
Here were some of the "notable" 1st and 2nd round hitters Sox have drafted: Hawkins, Barnum, Walker, Mitchell, Thompson, Beckham, Phegley, Fields, Anderson, Sweeney, Reed, Borchard.   Ryan Sweeney was most successful of that whole bunch (6.5 WAR) but like with Semien (and Phegley too) nearly all that value came with Oakland not the Sox.
When it came to drafted hitters, Sox's motto was "trade the best, keep the rest."

Sox should love Turang... He plays football too !!!!  Saw he was rated as best offensive prospect for 2018 by one source, although he's supposed to be a great pitcher and may go that route. May see him play this coming spring in California.
