Frazier to the Yankees -Robertson and Kahnle too

Post by rmapasad on Tue Jul 18, 2017 10:00 pm

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that 2016 first-rounder Blake Rutherford "will be the prized Yankees prospect going to the White Sox" in the yet-to-be announced trade for Todd Frazier, David Robertson, and Tommy Kahnle.
The names of minor leaguers are beginning to leak out, so this one is probably quite close to being completed. Rutherford, the No. 18 overall pick last year out of a high school in California, owns a .302/.364/.443 batting line over his first 104 professional games. The 20-year-old outfielder is currently stationed with the Yankees' Low-A Charleston affiliate in the South Atlantic League. He was ranked the No. 37 prospect in all of baseball this spring by MLB.com.
Yankees pitching prospect Ian Clarkin may also be heading to the White Sox, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
He would be part of the return package for Todd Frazier, David Robertson, and Tommy Kahnle. Clarkin, the 33rd overall pick in 2013 out of a San Diego high school, boasts a 2.61 ERA over 72 1/3 innings (13 starts, one relief appearance) this season for High-A Tampa. >>>

Wow - shaping up to be a Sox team that will be loaded for bear come 2020 and beyond.  Both these prospects are a ways off and it's surprising to see Kahnle part of this, but if he helps get 2 top prospects, so be it.

Yeah, he was one of the bright spots this year and under Sox control through 2020.   Could be the Sox figured Kahnle's value will never get any higher and if he was the key to prying away the prospects then it was worth it.   Must say the Sox came away with a nice haul on this deal.  Blake Rutherford gives them another solid OF prospect, Ian Clarkin is a quality LHed starter, and even Tito Polo will increase the depth of their offensive prospects.

Giving up Kahnle was too much.  Hahn overpaid.  Although I do relish the thought of Ruthersford

I believe the White Sox now have a top 10 prospect outfield.

Not quite 2 weeks left to dump Melkey, Holland, Gonzalez, Pelfrey, Swarzak, and Shields

Check that, rutherford is the #12 OF prospect in all of baseball.

Add Jennings to the dump list.  Avisail Garcia and Jose Abreau can stay
