    Are the pieces in place?

Post by Guest on Wed Jun 14, 2017 6:32 pm

Clearly OUR White Sox aren't done rebuilding.  But I am getting the impression the pieces are in place waiting to be assembled

Seriously, what do the WHite Sox need?

Zack Collins is the catcher of the future
The infield corners were drafted this week
Up the middle is cover by Anderson and 2 very study Cubans, Moncada and Roberts
Avisail Garcia just might be the best 5 tool player ever to wear a White Sox uniform
That leaves LF and DH.  Matt Davidson looks like he can fill one of those roles.  So worst case scenario is OUR White Sox buying a bat if none emerge from the minors

Pitching was taken care of last winter with Kopech during company.  Hahn wisely kept Quintana which makes the staff even closer to being ready.

By 2020 OUR White Sox just might be a team without a weakness

Lot of chickens being counted before hatching.    CF is still an issue unless one believes Leury is for real, which remains to be seen and I doubt Tilson will amount to much.  LF too unless that's where Moncada goes if the Sox think a glove guy like Sanchez can hit enough to warrant the 2b job.

As to Avi, 2.5 months of decency still don't wash out 3 years of sucking but he may be at least a viable guy going forward.  Sox have him locked only through 2019, so some type of extension may be needed for 2020-2022.  Candidly, Sox should see him do it again in 2018 before springing for that extension.

Luis Robert is the chicken that will be hatched into CF.

And like I mentioned, LF can be solved via free agency.
