But Hey, if the White Sox only make the World Series every 40 or so years, then you are correct, non of this matters

First of all, $ 3 million is pretty small potatoes in today's baseball payroll.  In fact now it really comes down to saving only $ 1.6 mil.. If the Sox cut Garcia now, they save $2.2 million of his salary and then would have to put another guy into his 40 man spot at $ 600K.   Cost shouldn't be a real key here.

Second, my defense of Garcia was based on the idea that he MIGHT improve at age 26 and that there is no harm if he doesn't because this is a what-the-hell season anyway.   But I am concerned if keeping him might mean Sox have to let go other 26-27 year olds.   Guys like like Delmonico, Engel, MAy, and Hayes still have options and can go back to AAA.  OTOH, Liriano and Davidson are out of options and can only be kept if they pass through waivers.

Both Davidson and Liriano are having lousy springs striking out nearly 1/2 their PA's.  So that might work in the Sox's favor in allowing them to go through waivers unclaimed.  Ideally, the Sox hold onto all these guys and let them fight it out on the fields of Chicago and Charlotte to see who survives.

MIGHT is a pretty strong word

THE KARK pisses away $12 a week because he MIGHT hit the Powerball

You do it because the consequences for failing are small but the payoff is large.  Exactly what I've been saying about the Sox gambles this year.  And at least Sox's odds of succeeding in one of these gambles are a lot better than the Powerball.

The odds are about the same as well

Not your buulshit 10% which is based on flawed analysis on the weakest of comps

Since I didn't use those comps to claim Garcia could turn into Bautista, Donaldson, etc. your nitpicks about how they aren't comparable are irrelevant.   All I was demonstrating is that guys aren't doomed
permanently because they put up bad numbers in the bigs from ages 23-25.  Some guys just don't come into their own until ages 26-27.  That's all it was meant to show.

You don't have any evidence to back the assertion that Garcia [size=13]is
totally incapable of a power surge at ages 26-27.  Is it unlikely ?  Of course, but looking at all the guys in baseball history who've gained more power in the mid-late 20's, it would be ridiculous to claim the odds of that are similar to winning the lottery.
