    Really Refreshing

Post by Jack Brickhouse on Tue Jan 03, 2017 2:08 pm

YOUNGER internet Sox Fans are not all caught up in the OLD MAN boring crap I have heard for 50 years.

Seems when self important douchebags George Bova and Richard Lindberg suggested rebuilding the current team and farm system could lead to a FRANCHISE RELOCATION....THEY WERE MOCKED.

Really love Bova and Lindberg photoshopped on FB on MT. FANBOYMORE!!

Lindberg as Pope and Bova as a Soviet Dictator are equally amusing.

Time for OLD MEN Fanboys to stop pretending they are important.

    1983 is over.

Fans 35 years old have no recollection.

Young fans do not care about the threat to move to Florida and the new stadium.

Not too much daily Billy Pierce or Minoso talk with YOUNG people.

Lindberg is an ass kissing pooch.  Just creepy.
He just kisses Reinsdorf's ass in 'Total White Sox".

    PATHETIC.

Talks up WIN NOW....calls it RE-TOOL.

Says the Sox are "HIGHLY COMPETITIVE" most seasons under Reinsdorf.

He rips Bill Veeck and Bill Gleason.  Both Dead.  TO KISS REINSDORF'S ASS.

You can tell he was the nerd in High School.

    A DOOFUS.

Playing teacher's pet for Billionaire Reinsdorf.

He is also tight with HOWIE......NERDS OF A FEATHER!!!

Are these guys actually representative of some portion of the Sox fan base ? It sounds like just a few guys with
not much to do who get the most attention because they are the squeakiest wheels.

Lindberg truly loves Chicago and has written all kinds of crime books.  He is an HISTORIAN without the Ph.D.

He is a non fiction author.

Wrote a few books on the Sox.

One is great.  All about the building of the new stadium.

The White Sox Encyclopedia and the follow up....Total White Sox are full of ass kissing editorial comment that sounds like a 12 year old is writing.  Typing with one hand, waving a pennant with the other.

    Lindberg is stuck in 1965.

Bova a self important stroke who has run websites.  He now lives in suburban New York.  In Connecticut.

I honestly thought the old AOL Board was pretty representative of Sox Fans.

90% realists.  Living in the here and now.  No sugarcoating much.  No self important SERIOUS fans for the most part.  Not too much THE SOX ARE MY LIFE bullshit.

    PLUS TONS OF LAUGHS.

Lindberg and Bova have the character defect that indicates DWEEB......they are incapable of laughing at themselves.

You reach a certain point where you see this FAN stuff for what it is.

Some people refuse.  I guess they pretend they are IMPORTANT or NEEDED by the Billionaire owners and Millionaire players.

    ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.

I have always enjoyed other fans.  PEOPLE.

The sox have sucked for most of my lifetime.

I have met great people at decades of games and on that AOL Board.

I have friends I sat with in the early 70s in Left Field to this day.

The SERIOUS SOX FANS need a fucking life.

    TO ANSWER KEVIN'S QUESTION

REINSDORF DOESN'T MOVE UNLESS SOMEBODY IS BUILDING HIM A NEW STADIUM

NOW MAYBE THE KARK IS SIMPLY PROJECTING HIS OWN PERSONAL BIAS, BUT I CAN'T SEE ANY STATE OR ANY MUNICIPALITY SPENDING A 1/4 TO 1/2 A BILLION DOLLARS TO LURE THE WHITE SOX OUT OF CHICAGO

    ************************

    AS TO ROSEBOWL'S COMMENT

    THE KARK WAS BORN IN 1965.  THE WHITE SOX WERE GOOD UNTIL 1967.  THEN YOU 1972, 1977, 1983, 1990, 1993, 1994, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012 WHEN THE TEAM WAS WORTH A DAMN.

11 SEASONS. 5 OF WHICH THEY DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.  72 & 90 WERE DAMN GOOD TEAMS, JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BET THE A'S.  1977, 2003 & 2012 CHOKED AT THE END BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T OUTLAST OBVIOUS WEAKNESSES.

    *********************************

WHAT THE KARK FINDS HYSTERICAL IS THIS NOTION THAT THE WHITE SOX NATION WOULD NEVER TOLERATE A COMPLETE REBUILD.

    LMAO!!!!!

WIN NOW-RELOAD...Tomorrow is Promised to NO ONE.

95% of people have REAL LIVES where they actually do something.

Then there is Murph being some sort of total loser FANBOY.

I'm not as heavy critic of the Sox having played "win-now". They had solid reasons for doing it.
First of all, 90-95% of all teams start each season with win-now. Rebuilding and 60-70 win seasons
suck. Owners, players, coaches and fans want to see a team win. It's natural.
Second, Sox need to win to recapture a fickle fan base. They don't have tradition, great ballpark atmosphere,
attachment to the local community, etc. to maintain fan support through losing seasons like other clubs have
had (Angels, Dodgers, Cubs, Mets, Padres, Brewers, Rockies, etc.) Third, the Sox had a core of decent players
coming out of 2014 (Sale, Quitana, Abreu, Eaton).

But they did a lousy job of building a supporting cast. Yeah, some of that came from neglecting the
farm system for ten years under Kenny and Shaffer. But that isn't the fault of "win-now". Other clubs are
able to walk (compete) and chew gum(build a farm system) at the same time like the Cardinals, Red Sox,
Dodgers, Rangers, etc. You don't always need high draft picks just SMART ones.

Another problem with "win-now" was the Sox's budget. When you're only willing to pay free agents
$ 10 - 15 million per year you get the LaRoches, Melkys, Dunns, Robertsons, etc. of the world not the
cream of the crop like Cespedes, Scherzer, Cano, etc.

Sox made the right decision to trade Sale, Eaton and put the others on the block. It was a bitter
necessity built out of past bad decisions. Not because they were trying to win in 2015-2016, but
because they did a botched job of it. Now the same owner, same President, same GM and same
scouting org that created this mess are the ones trying to get them out of it. Hmmm...

Roger mentions the win now budget and the problem of chasing 2nd tier free agents instead of the crean of the crop.

Seems to be that sometimes the whole is less than the sum of the parts

How many times have we seen teams on both sides of town dominated woth what would be considered 500 players only to watch those team finish less than 500

    *************************************************

The biggest problem for the White Sox is that they tend to focus too much on young pitching to the detriment of hitting.  I believe Gordon Beckham was the last player the White Sox drafted that became an everyday player for the White Sox.  that was 2009
