    5. Chicago White Sox
    > Sport:
     Baseball
    > 10 year attendance decline: 24.1%
    > Avg. home game attendance: 21,947
    > Avg. capacity filled: 54.0%
The Chicago White Sox were less popular than their crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cubs, in 2005, and the still are to an even greater degree today. Few teams in professional sports had a larger decline in home game attendance over the past decade then the White Sox. In 2005, an average of 28,923 fans showed up per game. In the 2015 season, attendance was down to an average of 21,947 per home game. Meanwhile, the Cubs had roughly 10,000 more fans per game in 2005 and an average of nearly 15,000 more in 2015. As with most teams with rapidly shrinking fan bases, the White Sox’s poor overall record may explain the waning enthusiasm. Since their 2005 playoff appearance, the Sox only made it back to the playoffs once. Additionally, the team had a losing record in four of its last five seasons.

What else can they do? When marquee and fan favorite players like Adam Dunn, Adam LaRoche, Gordon Beckham and Tank Viciedo can't captivate the community you know you have a problem.

    This is hardly breaking news.

Meanwhile Ricketts has again turned Wrigley Field into a massive construction site over the Winter.

When the Sox managed the LOWEST LOCAL TV ratings in all of M.L.B. last season, IT WAS NO ACCIDENT.

YOUNG PEOPLE are not going to watch a SHIT SHOW.

Young College Grads who get their first job here are not going to hang at U.S. Cellular Field for HORSESHIT.

People can get a score on a cellphone.

This "LOVE and DEVOTION", FANBOY STYLE, to some Major League Baseball Team forever is not hip to young people.  A GOOD TIME IS.

The ridiculous idea that the Sox have all kinds of STAY at HOME Fans who just can't wait for a good team so they will turn out in droves is also a PIPE DREAM.

THE 1950s and Early to mid 1960s are OVER.  OVER.  DONE.

Anybody who looks at the situation with EYES OPEN could have figured this out years ago.

Even McDonalds tries to change the menu when failing, Chairman does not.

    WIN NOW.......WHO CARES!!!!!!

    NOT MY PROBLEM!!

This organization is a bunch of strokes.

The prick Reinsdorf calls you an asshole to your face years ago, and you don't take the hint!!!!

THIS IS A FUCKING BUSINESS.  Brickhouse is long dead.  Srtop trying to make up some sort of personal connection to a BUSINESS.

A Billionaire paying Millionaires and goofs meeting in Choke and PUKE Buffets dream of picking confetti off of the street.

    It is 2016!!!

THE KARK'S BIGGEST FEAR IS THAT THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX ARE THE BASEBALL VERSION OF THE CHICAGO CARDINALS.

99% of us know this is what it is.

    Huge Business.  Entertainment Industry.

Then we have FANBOYS trying to make it what THEY want it to be.  Some 1950s style world of self delusion where they can pretend they are IMPORTANT.

    A total WASTE OF TIME.

Go, watch on TV, have FUN......Just figure out what your place is....figure out these people could not care less if you are hit by a train.

Kinda funny related point.  After watching the Seahawks lose on Sunday I'm feeling pissed off because my interest in the football season just ended and my team didn't get the prize.  At the same time, I see the players on the team shaking hands:   Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, etc, all with smiles/laughing, pats on the back to the Panthers.  Shit, they aren't pissed, they're getting ready for vacation.  Why should I be pissed if they aren't?

    PISSED????

The only people pissed are those who lost money on the game!!

Hell, if I don't win squares, I am pissed at the entire SUPER BOWL!!!

A lot of these players are CORPORATIONS!!!

What jobs are on the line in Baseball once you sign that long term deal?  Even if you are cut, the guaranteed contract is there!!

The days of Leo Durocher are as dead as he is.  These guys play the games, they don't hate each other.

They go from team to team.  RIVALRIES in Professional Sports are bullshit for the media to write about and numb nuts fans to discuss on the internet.

Exactly. That's how you and I  can be bitter enemies and rivals on this board and yet in real life it would probably be laughs, back slaps and handshakes between us. I wouldn't have a problem with that. Besides, I'm really the understanding type and would probably take a certain amount of pity on you and figure that you could use a friend.

No. It's the old "enemy of my enemy is my friend" factor...Bel is the ultimate enemy.

Nah, we'd probably hate each other in real life, too.

It's a prerequisite to be a member of this board. Haven't you read the bylaws?
