    It really is clear

    It really is clear

I was strumming thru the TV channels tonight and Fox sports Ohio had game 5 of the 1975 World Series between the Reds and the Red Sox. The pace of the game was just what MLB and the fans are clamoring for and it was clear, the major differences were that the batter hardly ever, and some batters never, left the batters box between pitches, and the pitchers got the ball and pitched - and this was with Bench and Fisk, neither known for speeding up the game, catching. The other big difference was - no checked swing checks/arguments. Whatever the home plate ump called, that was it, and clearly, there were swings that were called no-swings and balls - and nobody gave a shit. Add to that, the high strike being called, and bingo - the game had a great pace.
It's really fuckin' ridiculous that the commissioner and all those "committees" can't figure it out.  Have any of them been watching ball games over the past 30 yrs.

Let's also not forget the amount of between innings advertising...commercials...that are shown now as compared to 30 years ago. Whatever they might do to speed up the game will simply be negated by more commercials for cars and buffalo wings.
