    Suspended game

Post by Guest on Sat Apr 25, 2015 9:59 am

This is where that knuckleballer would come in handy......

BTW, it was announced Robertson was coming into the game.  anybody know if the White Sox are allowed to change their minds?

and another thing, aren't starters supposed to throw in between starts!?!?!?!??!

Maybe getting an inning out of Sale to start the 9th is a good way to kill 2 birds with one stone and with a little luck, save the pen.

But that assumes the Sox can shutdown the Royals in the 9th and score a quick run in their half.

And if you want to really go old school and out of the box, didn't Jim "Ball4" Bouton once use a double warm up?  How about Danks in the 9th then starts game 2.  2 wins for Johnny boy!!!!!!!

I heard that if the Sox want to toss Robertson in the continuation of this game, he'll have to begin on the mound.  Otherwise, he's been used.

And by rule, does he not have to pitch to at least one hitter?  Seems this rule needs a bit of a look.  But in some suspended games, rosters have changed.  If an announced pitcher had been sent down or traded away or released, what would they do?

I'm sure there's leeway on that rule where this restarted game is concerned.  If a manager ever wanted to circumvent this rule, he could easily just tell the pitcher to feign injury...."Oh, my leg!"  Ultimately, if a pitcher refused to throw a pitch or face a hitter, what could the ump really do?  Declare the other team the winner?  Kinda doubt it.

Maybe the ump would allow it, maybe not.  However, if the opposing team lost, the manager would likely protest the game and because the rule is pretty clear, the protest would likely be upheld.

And Robertson might then not be able to pitch in Game 2 without a whole lot of convincing.
