Talking heads on MLB bringing up Byrd's name as a perfect fit for a team looking for a LF with pop.
Has 2yrs left on his contract at about 8m per.

John, are you saying that the Sox management is thinking about giving us the Byrd for Christmas? santa

A 37 yr old Byrd doesn't really fit into Rosebowl's "rebuilding" but 2yrs (second yr is a player option based on PA's) fits into WIN NOW

On the heels of the LaRoche signing, it would definitely be a WIN NOW move.  Byrd had a good year last season, but it's rather risky that he can keep it up for 1 or 2 more years.  Sooner or later, his age is going to catch up with him.

It would depend whom the Sox would have to give up for him.  They shouldn't give much.  At $8 million/year, there might be a better free agent option out there without having to give up a player in exchange.

    WIN WHAT NOW????

    A 2nd Wild Card?

    Fine.

Other gobbledy goop on the net hints the Sox have something BIG going on.

As usual, wait and see.  Seeing is BELIEVING.
