Pure, raw, unadulterated genius. Probable suicide.

Jumanji was probably the ONLY thing he did that I didn't like.
He was incredible but really out there. Saw him on "that's entertainment" or some such hour interview show.
Took a woman's scarf and did three impromptu routines from a woman to a bullfighter to a swami and maybe a gentleman from the middle ages. Hilarious and all totally unscripted. He has had past problems with drug and depression. Wonder what kind of demons he had-maybe just the pressure to always be on and outstanding.
    He will be missed,

He fought depression his entire life. Almost all medical evidence now shows it to be a chemical disorder of the brain. Robin was certainly wired different from the rest of us but, man, he sure knew how to entertain us.

He was also having quite a bit of financial problems, believe it or not. Two bad divorces left him with not enough money to pay the bills.  Admitted that was why he has been in stuff the past few years that left you scratching your head and wondering why he would be doing THAT.

It is very sad.  I wasn't a big fan of his comedy, but he was a tremendous actor.  My favorite Robin Williams role was in the film Patch Adams which ironically dealt with the importance of combating depression thru fostering a cheerful positive humorous outlook for those facing severe physical illnesses.

The park bench scene in "Good Will Hunting". Doesn't get much better than that.

I was thinking of renting it and showing it to my almost 13 yr old.  Hope it's not too inappropriate.

I don't think so ..but I guess it depends on how prudish the parent is ...really a story of finding out life is not about making money, but making art and finding beauty in the world ...also, of following your dream and not what others want you to do.
