NBC has the White Sox as the front runner. Too bad he is righthanded. Sox need 2 real lefty power bats

That said, get Abreau and the top starter in the FA market and the Sox will be back in contention

"We just couldn't get together on the number of years"
"We thought we had him, not sure why he went to Boston"
    "We came up just short".
"We thought we had the inside track with Alexei and Dayan"

....any other excuses when they don't get him?

    Yeah, ummm, I'd rather not.

Don't know what to think of this deal.  There's a part of my brain asking "another Team Drudgery DH type?"

Yeah, I'm wondering what is wrong with him. Either that, or Jerry has gone off his meds.

Funny how attendance has to drop like a rock 7 straight seasons for these people to start getting it.

From what I read  about him, his upside is Ryan Howard. On the low end I think we are looking at Viciedo with the same warts, but 30 homers. Some scouts question his bat speed and say he is a DH, others say he will be adequate at first, and eventually be a 40 homer guy. We will see, but I think it is a good signing. If Kenny was still GM, (maybe he is), I think we would be talking about a Granderson signing with a big over pay.

Looks like a slightly revised "WIN NOW" still exists:

'Slightly Revised" because they LOST 99 Games last season???

Could not field. Could not run. Could not get on base. Could not score the runners they got on base.

    Bullpen collapses.

They have replaced Konerko with this signing. OAF DUNN is still here. They are NOWHERE close to the Tigers in talent.

Somehow the absolute idiocy of WIN NOW starts yet again.

Last season did not happen and Winter will improve the fellows.

I hope the guy is the best thing since sliced bread. I don't immediately jump to WIN NOW with one player.

They have more moves to make to have WIN NOW become any kind of reality after the season they just had.

    99 losses are 99 losses.
    They were AWFUL.

If they had Cabrera, they may have finished .500.

    Be serious.

The article says that haven't given up on 2014--that's all I am saying.
I'm sure Hahn knows where he needs to upgrade.
    This is a good start.

You have engaged in SELECTIVE READING for years!!!

    DID YOU WATCH LAST SEASON???

Hahn needs to make all kinds of moves.

    No leadoff man. No 3b.
    A braindead shortstop.
A 2B that is only legendary on THIS BOARD.
    OAF is HERE.

    GRASP AT STRAWS.

TELL US IT IS AN EVEN YEAR NEXT YEAR.

    99 LOSSES!!!!

    .

NFW.  Cabrera may have led the league in solo homers and most times left on base but the Sox would have still lost over 90 games.  Baseball's the ultimate team game.  There are no Michael Jordans, Tom Bradys or Wayne Gretzkys to turn a loser team into a winner or even a competitor.  The Babe in his prime wouldn't have brought this team to .500.  I agree with the rest of the post.

I have never said that he was legendary, but have said that I still think he will be a good major league ballplayer.
And if you were referring to John, I am also still on the Beckham bandwagon- and can point to this year during times he was injured.

Boy. Talk about a guy blowing hot and cold (as opposed to just blowing) I'm seem to recall some comments by a certain west coast doc earlier this year-how soon we forget.

kind of as an aside- since we have been talking about potential and stats of future White Sox phenoms- read something I had never seen before. Quote from one of my favorite quotemeisters (Winston Churchill)
"I never believe ANY statistics that I haven't doctored myself!"
Is that a great line or not?

LOL...I'm NOT referring to you Frank...I don't really have any idea where you stand on Beckham. My comment was directed at John. As for the Ginger review comment, it actually made me laugh at a moment I wasn't in the best of humor. The only thing that pissed me off was all the trouble I went to actually writing a review and when I went to send it AOL had a glitch and the fucking thing just disappeared...tried getting it back and couldn't.

STILL has me pissed off! Mad

If so my apologies, Jay.(just don't come around next season asking for a seat)
