    Rios for Upton?

Post by MGJOHNSON on Wed Dec 19, 2012 10:06 am

Evidently, the Diamondbacks have tried very hard to trade Justin Upton this winter. Upton is a potential super-star, and a change of scenery may do him some good. I doubt if the Sox could get him for Rios alone, but it could be the basis of a transaction involving other players. Maybe Rios and Floyd for Upton and a decent prospect.

I guess it depends on whether the D'Backs believe this is the "real" Rios or whether this was a fluke year as to what else we'd have to give up.

    Isn't Upton a head case?

Which might be why the Dbacks are trying very hard to trade him

Justin Upton tries too hard and gets down on himself when he fails. He's very intense and puts a lot of pressure on himself. The Dbacks have tried to get him to relax and enjoy the game more. Unlike most White Sox players, he often get very upset with himself if he strikes out in a close game with a runner in scoring position.

Sounds like he needs a Hamm's between at bats.

If so, he'd fit right in with this clown act. The head cases on this team start with the owner and works its way down.

If Hahn could get Upton for Rios, he would be executive of the year and Kevin Towers would be looking for a job.

Isn't Upton entering is free agent year? I haven't check gots contracts, but it looks like 2013 will be his 6th year in the bigs making him a 1 year rental. Therefore, is contract status cancels out his age.

Production wise, very similiar to Rios. Let someone else overpay for Upton. Sox don't need him

Ramirez might actually start hitting in April in Arizona.

If true...Christmas comes early! Like the rest of this team, I'm tired of him. One of the lingering memories I'll carry is this stiff flailing away miserably at pitches 2 feet outside of the strike zone. Did he have a meaningful hit all year??

I find it refreshing that we have posters who will rip on a Sox Player BEFORE he leaves town.

I fondly recall arguments on this board, in the middle of June, regarding how Ramirez's hitting would come around once the weather turned warm!

In all seriousness, trading Ramirez now would make tons of sense. He is probably older than his birt certificate and his best year with the bat is still 2008. This winter may be the last chance to trade him for anything worth something

Well it better be for a shortstop, b/c the only viable option would be to bring up Sanchez and then everyone would bitch about "rushing" the kid. The only other possibility is the guy they picked up in the Rule 5 draft, is it Angel Sanchez?, who washed out with the Angels. Of course the Indians are shopping Absdrubel Cabrera.

Sign Alex Gonzales to a 1 year contract. Keep Sanchez at AAA. Gonzales is coming off a knee injury, if healthy, he would be a nice stop gap.
